The Orchard
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22–23 NLT
Every summer, the produce section suddenly looks different.
Watermelons replace citrus. Peaches fill wooden crates. Sweet corn appears in overflowing bins. Everywhere you look, there's evidence of a season that's finally arrived.
No one stands there wondering, How did all this grow so fast?
Because we know it didn't.
Long before anyone tasted the fruit, roots were reaching deep into the soil. Blossoms came and went. Rain fell. The sun beat down day after ordinary day. Growth was happening long before it was visible.
That's how God works in us.
We often want instant transformation. We pray once and expect patience. Forgive once and expect the hurt to disappear. Read our Bible for a week and wonder why our faith doesn't suddenly feel unshakable.
But the Holy Spirit isn't interested in quick fixes.
He's cultivating lasting fruit.
Most of His work happens where no one else can see it. In the quiet choices to trust Him. In the daily surrender that no one applauds. In the ordinary moments when you choose forgiveness over resentment, peace over worry, kindness over convenience.
Then one day, almost without realizing it, you respond differently.
You have more peace than panic.
More compassion than criticism.
More trust than fear.
Not because you tried harder...
but because the Holy Spirit has been faithfully growing something in you all along.
So don't confuse slow with stalled.
If you're walking with Christ, growth is happening—even when you can't measure it.
After all, no one expects fruit the day after a seed is planted.
And God doesn't either.
Keep abiding.
The fruit will come.
You are loved!
