Listen to Him

Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!" Mark 9:7

There are moments in Scripture when God doesn't whisper.

He declares.

This was one of those moments.

Jesus had taken Peter, James, and John up a mountain where something astonishing happened. Right before their eyes, His appearance changed. His clothes became dazzling white, revealing His divine glory. Then Moses and Elijah appeared, talking with Him.

Peter, never one to let silence linger, immediately suggested building shelters for all three—as if this mountaintop moment needed a construction project.

Before he could grab a hammer, a cloud enveloped them, and God interrupted him:

"This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!"

Not Moses.

Not Elijah.

Not Peter's ideas.

Jesus.

It's a reminder we still need today.

Our world is loud. Every day we're surrounded by opinions, podcasts, headlines, social media, and endless voices telling us what to believe, what to fear, and how to live. Even well-meaning people can drown out the One voice we need most.

But God's instruction hasn't changed.

Listen to Him.

We hear His voice as we open His Word, spend time with Him in prayer, and follow the quiet conviction of His Spirit. And when He speaks, He's not looking for our commentary nearly as much as our obedience.

Maybe today He's saying, Forgive.

Trust Me.

Wait.

Take the first step.

Whatever He's saying, don't let the noise of the world become louder than the voice of your Savior.

The Father settled the question on that mountain.

When every other voice competes for your attention...

listen to Him.

Then do whatever He tells you.

You are loved!
