U-Turns
People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. Proverbs 28:13
"I'm sorry" is a very good place to start.
It's just a terrible place to stop.
God never intended confession to be the finish line. He intended it to be the first step toward transformation.
Confession says, "I was wrong."
Repentance says, "I'm going a different direction."
Think about your GPS. It tells you to turn left, but you're convinced you know a better way, so you turn right instead. A mile later, you realize the choice you made was a mistake.
Confession is admitting you went the wrong way.
Repentance is making the U-turn.
Repentance isn't about proving how sorry you are.
It's about agreeing with God that the road you're on won't take you where you want to go.
That's why repentance is a gift. God never exposes your sin to humiliate you. He exposes it so He can heal you.
Every time He calls you to turn around, He's inviting you away from destruction and toward the person He created you to become.
Proverbs 28:13 goes beyond a simple call to "confess." It commands you to "confess and turn." And what follows is a promise that shatters your expectations. You brace for condemnation, rejection, or an angry lecture. Instead, you receive the exact opposite:
Radical, unmerited mercy.
God isn’t standing with crossed arms, frustrated with your wrong turns. He isn’t waiting for you to clean up your mess before He'll welcome you back. That isn’t His heart at all.
Instead, He calls you to repentance because He longs to restore what sin has broken.
Confession + Repentance = MERCY!
Repentance is not the end of the story.
It's where restoration begins.
You are loved!
