Question Your Questions
“If you are the Son of God…” Luke 4:3
One of Satan's favorite weapons has always been questions.
His first recorded words in Scripture weren't a command. They were a question.
“Did God really say…?” (Genesis 3:1)
Thousands of years later, his strategy hadn't changed. During Jesus's temptation in the wilderness, Satan challenged Jesus with, “If you are the Son of God…”
The enemy loves to make us question God's Word, God's goodness, God's timing, and even our identity in Christ.
Not because he's seeking understanding.
Because he's seeking surrender.
But questions themselves aren't dangerous.
What we do with them is.
David had questions. Habakkuk had questions. Thomas had questions. God wasn't offended by their honesty. He met them in it.
The difference was where they took their questions.
They brought them to God instead of away from Him.
The enemy wants doubt to become disbelief. God wants questions to become deeper trust.
Over the years, I've discovered that Satan's tactics aren't very creative. He still traffics in the same things: doubt, discouragement, distraction, deception, division, and defeat. He whispers, Can God really be trusted? Is obedience really worth it? Why wait? Why forgive? Why surrender?
And if we're not careful, questions that should drive us toward God can slowly pull us away from Him.
That's why James tells us to resist the devil (James 4:7). Not by pretending we don't have doubts, but by bringing them into the light. By opening our Bibles. By praying honestly. By seeking wise counsel and standing on truth instead of feelings.
What the enemy intends to use as a stumbling block, God can use as a stepping stone to deeper faith.
The enemy asks questions hoping you'll walk away from God.
God welcomes questions knowing they'll draw you closer.
The very questions Satan hopes will unravel your faith can become the tools God uses to strengthen it.
Don’t run from God with your questions.
Run To Him.
He’s the only One with all the right answers.
