One Road

Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 NIV

By this time of year, a lot of us are dreaming about vacation.

Maybe it's Florida. Warm sunshine. Ocean breezes. Palm trees swaying in the distance. You pack your bags, board the plane, and land ready for a few days away from schedules, responsibilities, and whatever has been weighing on your mind.

You rent a car, turn up the music, and head toward the Florida Keys.

And then it happens.

Traffic.

Not just a little traffic.

The kind where brake lights stretch endlessly ahead and your GPS says something offensive like, Arrival time: 2 hours and 47 minutes.

Suddenly, you start wondering if there’s another way. A shortcut. A side road. A better option.

But there isn’t one.

The Florida Keys are connected by one main highway, and there is only one road that will take you there.

You don’t get frustrated and drive into the ocean because traffic feels inconvenient.

You stay on the road.

And this is exactly why nonbelievers struggle with Christianity. Because our culture loves to think all roads lead to God.

It sounds kind. Open-minded. Inclusive.

But Jesus never said there are many ways. He said, “I am the way.”

Not one option among many.

The way.

It makes people uncomfortable when He says He is the only road.

But Jesus isn’t trying to shut people out. He’s making sure no one stays lost.

You don’t reach God through good behavior, sincerity, or your own spiritual path. You come through Jesus—through His grace, His sacrifice, and the God who chose you first.

There are many roads in life.

But there’s only one that leads you home.
