Offstage

For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

If faith were only built on what we could see, none of us would last very long.

Because some of God’s most important work doesn’t come with updates, proof, or progress reports. It happens quietly. Faithfully.

It happens offstage.

The cross looked like the end of the story. From every visible angle, it was finished. Loss had won. Hope was sealed away.

But the Gospel tells us something better: what looked final was actually holy ground. God wasn’t late. He wasn’t absent. He was actively bringing life out of what everyone else thought was done.

That’s the part we forget.

I’ve learned how tempting it is to judge God’s work by what’s changing around me. If circumstances improve, I assume He’s near. If they don’t, I wonder where He went. But looking back, I can see it clearly now—so much of God’s work happened offstage.

While I was watching outcomes, God was strengthening hearts.

While I was asking for relief, God was growing trust.

While I thought nothing was happening, He was laying a foundation strong enough to hold resurrection.

Saturday felt quiet.

But Heaven wasn’t.

Resurrection didn’t rush—but it never hesitated either. It arrived exactly when it was meant to, carrying more life than anyone imagined possible.

So if your story feels paused, if progress feels invisible, if you’re wondering whether your prayers are doing anything at all—take a breath. God is not waiting to start. He’s already working.

Faith isn’t pretending things are easy.

Faith is believing that what you can’t see yet matters just as much as what you can.

The story is not over.

The work is not wasted.

And the God who raised Jesus from the grave is still bringing life—right now, right here—even when it’s happening offstage.
