Beloved

Beloved, we are God's children now. — 1 John 3:2 (ESV)

Beloved.

That's what God calls you.

Not failure. Not addict. Not divorced. Not unwanted. Not too much. Not not enough. Not the names someone else gave you. Not even the names you've been whispering to yourself for years.

Beloved.

In the original Greek, the word is agapētos—deeply loved, dearly treasured, cherished. It's not just how God feels about you. It's how He identifies you.

Names matter.

A single cruel name can follow us for decades. One careless comment can become the soundtrack in our heads. Before long, we begin believing we're unlovable, invisible, damaged, or beyond repair.

But God speaks a different word.

The God who hung every star in the sky, painted every sunset, and imagined every color in every rainbow looks at you and says, "Mine. Beloved."

You don't earn that name.

God doesn't call you Beloved because you've cleaned up your life, conquered your struggles, or proven your worth. He calls you Beloved because that's who He is.

The world names you by your worst moment.

God names you by His greatest act of love.

Grace gave you a name your past could never take away.

So stop introducing yourself by your wounds.

Stop answering to names God never gave you.

The only opinion that has the authority to define your identity belongs to the One who created you.

Today, let "Beloved" sink a little deeper into your heart. Let it quiet the voices that have been shouting over God's truth. Let it become the name you answer to.

Because once you know you are deeply loved...

...you become someone who loves deeply.

That's what beloved people do.

You are loved!
